Tell us where you garden:

Extra-hardy plants require no winter protection and remain attractive year-round.
Includes six actively growing Sempervivum.
Sempervivum earned its common name from its growth habit. The mother plant, known as the hen, produces numerous offsets which cluster around its base like chicks. The rosettes reach the end of their life cycle after 3 to 4 years, bloom, then die. New chicks will quickly fill in the void and the cycle will continue. Chicks can be easily separated and replanted to create more plants or left in place to form a spreading mat. Makes a great tabletop centerpiece and can be made into a living wreath.

Is this for you?
Incredibly tolerant of both heat and drought. Deer and rabbit resistant. Needs plenty of sun, well-drained soil and little water. Can also be grown in cracks in dry stone walls, hypertufa containers, troughs, rock gardens and poor soil that does not hold water. Even excellent as houseplants in a sunny room.

Hens & Chicks thrive on neglect! These hardy performers are truly a plant-them-and-forget-them plant, flourishing in hot, dry conditions and requiring no maintenance. Easy to propagate and even easier to care for, you can see why their genus name literally translates to “live forever”.

Can be grown throughout most of the continental U.S. An excellent value and investment for any gardener. **This product cannot ship to the following states and territories AK, HI, PR, VI, GUAM.
